Here are a contemporary wooden house design ideas, eva street residence. Designed by chris cobb, in Austin, Texas. Located on a lot of fill in urban South Central Austin, the biggest challenge site was also one of its greatest assets, a beautiful 150 + year old live oak that was in the center section of accumulating power of the property. The project arose from the need to build in relation to the tree and to investigate whether a townhouse can achieve some of the spatial dynamics of the tree: the family house without sealing them off from their surroundings. The solution was to create a volume tense with several floors, featuring a dynamic interaction of different heights to engage and interact with the tree, placing under and within the canopy that are defined by their far-reaching ramifications. The house is sheathed with Brazilian Redwood and corrugated Corten steel, which adds texture, scale, and a merger of the house with its surroundings and at the same time smoothing out the geometry, the sharpness of the structure. Wood flooring extends into the house, which is also defined by stories of dark chocolate bamboo, crisp white walls, meticulous custom cabinets, and clean detailing.
